Whatever platform you choose- Indiegogo, Kickstarter, gofundme or Trevolta to name a few-there is a campaign that probably speaks to you. I have donated to numerous things: helping to make an album, books for a classroom, medical treatment, volunteer trips, education centers, a new camera lens, a photography project, etc… This list can go on for a while.
I know that there are people out there who probably think that this is crazy, especially when funding something like a new camera lens. But I don’t. I can see the passion that people have and that’s what I support. I love the idea that I connect with people around the world and help the wish that they put out there come true. I would be lying if I said that I didn’t think that it was good karma. Of course it is! And that’s okay. I can’t really donate a lot, so I never reach any of the awards, but just knowing that my donation can possibly change someone’s life is good with me.
And it doesn’t stop here. I think it’s super important to buy from local businesses. Why wouldn’t you by art that a friend designed or something for your home that someone you know is selling, instead of from a faceless, nameless corporation. I’m not perfect. I do sometimes have to shop at Walmart. I try not to, but often, it’s out of necessity.
I hope that you can look over these sites and help fund someone’s dream because you never know when you might need YOUR dream funded!
